Insect phobia

"Hello everyone, my daughter megan used to love playing in the garden until a couple of weeks ago when there was an incident with a spider! I am not sure what happened but it either jumped on her or got swallowed! Her language skills aren't very good yet so it is hard to tell. Anyway she is 2.5 and screamed and screamed and we thought she had been stung by a wasp till we got the odd word out of her.

But now every time an ant or fly or anything comes near her she gets hysterical. It's a nightmare. She used to love playing in the garden and is now in tears and mad screaming every 2 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas about what I should do? I started off being sympathetic but am really fed up with it now. "

oh dear poor dd and you

luckily its me with the phobia and dha dn i ahev been good at trying not to let our dd pick up on it.

I guess your only thing would be to try letting her know they won't relaly hurt her, let her watch some programmes with insects and bugs etc and let her see you or dh haolding them, or a family friend who doens' mind bugs t show confidence and reassure her

guess its going to be hard work but maybe having friends over and you helping out might make it easier
